Tommy Atkins originated from a Haden mango seedling in Florida, USA. The mango is moderately sweet with TSS value 14-18 brix, with an average weight of 400-600 grams, and is mildly aromatic. However, the Indians (not exposed to the Classic Flavour profile of mangoes in Florida, USA) would love the flavour. The pulp of Tomy Atkins contains some fibres but the presence of fibres is not discouraging at all. Harvested during July in West Bengal (India) and Florida (USA), and August in North India. The plant shows semi-vigorous growth habit with an open canopy (any mango tree in the world can be maintained at a low height if pruned on a regular basis). Tomy Atkins is best suited for table purpose. Tomy Atkins is one of the most successful commercial mango cultivars in the world. It is being commercially farmed in countries like USA, Brazil, Mexico, Ecuador, Kenya etc. It is recommended for commercial Farming for Farms / Rooftop Gardens / Kitchen Garden / Small orchard.
