Sugarloaf is a natural selection mango variety originating from Zill High Performance Plants Nursery, Florida, USA — originally named Zill E-4, renamed 'Sugarloaf' in 2018 by Mr. Gary Zill in reference to the Sugar Loaf pineapple. Though a relatively new cultivar, it has earned extraordinary reputation for its butter-smooth, fibreless pulp that literally melts in the mouth, with distinctly tropical coconut and pineapple notes and sweetness reaching TSS 25–27 brix. Fruit remains green after ripening with yellow patches and occasional red blush on the shoulder — turning fully yellow only when bagged. Obliquely oval in shape, weighing 450–700 grams. An early to mid-season variety, ripening in May–June in West Bengal, India. The stone is polyembryonic and often aborted inside the husk. Notably, while Sugarloaf is recognised as a shy bearer in Florida, it has behaved in the complete opposite manner at Amrakunja Nursery & Farms — bearing regularly and very heavily in bunches across 2024, 2025, and 2026. It seems Sugarloaf loves India as if it were bred here.
