Osteen is believed to have originated from a Haden seedling in Florida, USA. The mango is adequately sweet (TSS: up to 20 brix) with classic flavour profile. Its average weight is 450 grams. it is harvested during late season (late July-August in West Bengal, India, August-October in Florida, USA, and August-September in northern India). The trees are semi-vigorous with spreading dense canopies (any mango tree in the world can be maintained at a low height if pruned on a regular basis). Osteen is a regular and heavy bearer. It has a long shelf life of 12-14 days. It is commercially farmed in many countries including Spain (southern part), Egypt, Australia etc. Osteen is best suited for table consumption.
