Crimson Bride, also marketed as Crimson Pride, is a natural selection mango variety that originated in Egypt. The fruit has an attractive crimson blush over its skin and develops a rich, aromatic flavor as it ripens, with adequate sweetness reaching up to 22ยฐ Brix (TSS). Each mango typically weighs between 400 and 600 grams, making it a substantial table fruit suitable for both fresh consumption and gifting.
As a mid-season cultivar, Crimson Bride matures at different times depending on the growing region: it is harvested in May-June in West Bengal (India), and in August in its country of origin, Egypt. This staggered harvest window across geographies makes it a versatile choice for growers in diverse climates.
The tree exhibits semi-dwarf growth with a dense, well-spread canopy, which keeps it manageable in size while still providing good foliage cover and bearing capacity. Thanks to this compact habit, Crimson Bride is well-suited to a wide range of growing setups โ from commercial farming on larger farms to rooftop gardens, kitchen gardens, and small orchards where space is at a premium.
Important note on identity: Crimson Bride / Crimson Pride of Egypt is a completely distinct variety from the Crimson Delight mango grown in Florida, USA. Despite the similarity in name, the two should not be confused, as they differ in origin, fruit characteristics, and parentage.
