Inside, the flesh is deep orange, very soft and melting, almost fibreless, and sweet with low acidity and a floral, syrupy character shared with several other Egyptian varieties; Fairchild's tasters called it a sultry combination of melon and vanilla. Superb eaten fresh with a spoon, and the backbone of Egypt's vast fresh mango-juice trade. Its standout agronomic virtue — confirmed repeatedly in Egyptian trials at Sharqia and Ismailia — is strong resistance to mango malformation, alongside very good anthracnose resistance.
