The often-heard \u003cem\u003e\"Eleven Shai\"\u003c\/em\u003e is a misreading — the \u003cem\u003eXi\u003c\/em\u003e here is the Chinese syllable for \"west,\" not the Roman numeral for eleven.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]\"\u003eThe fruit is elongated and highly colourful — ripening from green to a vibrant red. The pulp is golden yellow-orange, juicy, smooth, almost fibreless, and notably sweet (\u003cstrong\u003eTSS up to 24 brix\u003c\/strong\u003e), with a mild, clean flavour and a gentle aroma rather than a heavy perfume. The average fruit weight is around \u003cstrong\u003e350 grams\u003c\/strong\u003e. This is a mid-season mango that ripens in the last week of June in West Bengal, India, and in August in Taiwan. The seed is small, flat, and monoembryonic. Trees are \u003cstrong\u003esemi-dwarf\u003c\/strong\u003e with a compact canopy and behave as \u003cstrong\u003eregular and heavy bearers\u003c\/strong\u003e, making the variety well-suited to high-density orchards, kitchen gardens, rooftop gardens, and large containers. With a workable shelf life of \u003cstrong\u003e8–10 days\u003c\/strong\u003e, Xi Shi is primarily a table-purpose mango and also performs well as a premium gifting and dessert variety.
